ABOUT DREAD LAGOON
Dread Lagoon, emerging from Stoke-on-Trent, blends alt-rock, psychedelia, and electronic vibes into a captivating sound. Their debut single, "Voodoo Game," released in January 2024, marked the start of their journey with Joe Stingray on vocals and bass, Dave Hullat on guitar, and Jake Smith on drums.
The band has performed across cities like Stockport, Liverpool, Manchester, Leek, Whitchurch, and Newcastle, with notable shows at venues such as The Jacaranda and The Artisan Tap, and festivals like Lymelight Festival. Individually, the members have also played in other bands at festivals like Equinox, Not a Cult, On Board the Craft, and Glastonbury Psych Fest, broadening their experience and artistic connections.
Their EP, In-Between Dreams and Reality, weaves intricate guitar riffs and pulsating beats, influenced by artists like Jane's Addiction, Louis Cole, and Knower. Themes of mental health and overcoming adversity are central to their music, creating a deep, emotive sound.
Looking ahead, Dread Lagoon plans to release a double EP in 2025, along with music videos and exciting shows alongside talented bands across the country. As a DIY project with a punk ethos, they collaborate with promoters like Clampdown Promotions and Leaf Promotions, pushing their sound's boundaries. Sharing stages with acts like Bonk, Apollo House, Koala, and Zipstyle, they've solidified their presence in the scene.
